Description

Summary:

Develops supply management strategies for assigned categories and end users.  Oversees vendors, content management, system administration, training, communication and change management activities associated with the supply chain.  Considers market trends, industry conditions, corporate risk factors, price, quality, delivery requirements, terms and conditions.    

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops strategies and plans to support the supply chain process based on corporate and business unit goals and objectives for assigned commodities or areas of responsibilities.
  • Analyzes spend data and provides recommendations for supply chain process improvement.
  • Prepares and evaluates RFx documents and subsequent responses, as required.
  • Ensures end user requirements are satisfied, develops change management activities, promotes end user adoption, provides training and monitors end user satisfaction and needs.
  • Utilizes electronic purchasing and sourcing systems, including but not limited to, SAP, eProcurement, Online Reverse Auction Tool, eRFx, ERS, EDI and web based communications.
  • Develops strategic relationships between vendors and end users.
  • Ensures quality of sure, stable supply of materials, monitors the timeliness of the deliveries, and identifies patterns.
  • Notifies supply chain leaders of any potential or existing issues and/or seeks guidance and information from corporate entities such as Legal, Tax, Risk, Insurance, etc.
  • Manages the vendor base and tracks performance metrics.Resolves pricing and invoice discrepancies.
  • Coordinates technical questions and interfaces with the vendors, end users, and other departments.
  • Monitors, prepares and formally presents findings on industry trends and current contract negotiations. 

Education: 

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain related, Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science or other related discipline.     

Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of eight years experience as a sourcing specialist with demonstrated proficiency in the essential job responsibilities and skill sets.
  • Requires a minimum of seven years experience in service contracts, negotiations, and terms & conditions.  

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Able to utilize market trending techniques to analyze and forecast demand and/or pricing trends.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of the development and administration of service contracts (i.e. engineering, environmental) and construction contracts.
  • Able to perform advanced transactions and reports utilizing SAP.
  • Able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite of products and an intermediate knowledge of Access or other database software.
  • Able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of Corporate Standard Terms and Conditions and to negotiate acceptable alternate terms.
  • Able to delegate tasks and direct the day-to-day activities of support staff.
  • Able to mentor and/or train new employees.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge Supply Chain trends and their application.
  • Able to access, collect and analyze data utilizing available technology and industry related resources.
  • Able to perform detailed data analysis on materials, pricing, vendor’s financial stability, etc.
  • Able to influence and build consensus with end users, vendors and business associates.
  • Able to motivate self, accomplish tasks and achieve goals with minimal supervision including self-directed learning.
  • Able to identify solutions to problems with creativity and innovative thinking.
  • Able demonstrate effective project management and time management to meet project deadlines and remain within budget.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with end users, vendors and purchasing staff.
  • Able to demonstrate strong customer services skills including meeting the expectations and requirements of end users and purchasing staff.
  • Able to develop and maintain end user and vendor relationships.
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing demands and to demonstrate flexibility in the face of change or uncertainty.
  • Able to prioritize and schedule tasks, pay attention to detail and demonstrate good time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to make sound business decisions.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent negotiation skills.
  • Able to question and analyze work flow processes/procedures to assure efficiency, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Able to provide excellent client service, business alternatives and solutions to end users.
  • Able to provide a valid state driver’s license and present and maintain a good driving record. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to communicate orally in a clear manner.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer.
  • Able to sit and view terminal for long periods of time.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Able to bend, stoop, squat and/or kneel for filing and must be able to sit for extended periods of time.  

Working Conditions:

  • Able to function successfully in environment with moderate pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work overtime occasionally, as required to meet established deadlines.
  • Able to work in an office environment.
  • Able to travel occasionally to meetings or for training, occasionally overnight.
  • Able to work in office which may be located in or adjacent to a warehouse facility.
  • Office location may be assigned and reassigned at the Company’s discretion.
