Caucus Certifications - CTPS Program

Eligibility Requirements
The CAUCUS certification program is designed for those employed in a position that includes some level of responsibility in acquiring and managing technology products/services. Guidelines for those interested in earning CTPS accreditation are:

You are a professional with one of the following credentials:

  • Four years of procurement-related experience without a degree
  • Three years of procurement-related experience and an associate or bachelor degree
  • Two years of procurement-related experience and a master’s degree
  • One year of procurement-related experience with a doctorate

For additional information regarding guidelines for earning CTPS accreditation, please contact a Caucus representative.

Examination
To be identified as a Certified Technology Procurement Specialist, a candidate must take a knowledge-based examination that consists of two modules, Contract Management and Procurement, each encompassing 40 questions. Answers are a mix of multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank and true/false responses. Applicants are allowed 50 minutes to complete each 40-question module.

The CTPS exam can be administered on-line or in a proctored environment.  On-line testing provides flexibility, allowing the candidate to take the examination at any time, any location. Traditional testing is scheduled in a proctored environment.

Application and Fees
Applicants must submit information regarding professional experience and educational background.  A one-time application fee of $295 for Caucus members and $495 for non-Caucus members must be submitted with the application.

CTPS Scoring and Reporting
To become CTPS-certified, an applicant must correctly answer at least 70% of the examination questions on each module.  Candidates will receive notification of their pass-fail status within one week of the examination.

Appeals Process and Re-examination
Within ten business days following the unsuccessful attempt of achieving your CTPS, you may take the examination again after a 30-day waiting period.  You are required only to retake the module failed.  The charge for re-examination is $50 for Caucus members and $75 for non-Caucus members.
